International Conference on Deprescribing 2026
After the incredible success of the first two editions of the International conference on Deprescribing (ICOD), we look forward to gathering the entire community of researchers, clinicians, educators and trainees in the field of deprescribing and medication appropriateness in Montréal, Canada from April 27 to April 29, 2026!
ICOD 2026 will provide a unique opportunity to develop research networks and establish privileged links with other leaders in the field of deprescribing, fostering the development and strengthening of scientific collaborations.

Aim
Create opportunities for researchers, clinicians, educators, policy makers and the public to work collaboratively and internationally to optimize medication appropriateness and facilitate deprescribing
Objectives
Attract and assemble deprescribing and medication appropriateness researchers, clinicians, educators, policy makers and members of the public from around the world
Engage trainees and early career researchers through active participation and mentorship
Facilitate networking and collaboration to build relationships and foster partnerships
Share the latest deprescribing and medication appropriateness research, education and policy approaches
Engage with new partners to expand the interprofessional and international horizon for deprescribing and medication appropriateness

ICOD 2026 will be welcoming the following submissions: scientific abstracts for oral and poster presentations, workshops, panels, and seminars.
The abstract submission period will run from September 1 to October 15, 2025 (11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time). The submission platform link will be available by clicking here starting September 1st, 2025.

The Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network is pleased to invite applicants from developing countries to apply for travel funding for ICOD 2026.
One applicant will receive the following travel support:
Free registration to ICOD 2026 (value of approximately $600 CAD)
A maximum of $1500 CAD for flight expenses.
Two nights of hotel accommodation at the venue hotel (Hotel Omni Mont-Royal).
The deadline to submit the application is September 15th, 2025, 11:59PM Eastern Time.

Meet Our Invited Speakers
Cynthia Boyd
Dr. Cynthia Boyd (MPH, MD) is the Director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and co-director of the US Deprescribing Research Network (USDeN). She holds a joint appointment in Health Policy and Management and Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Boyd’s career has focused on improving the health and well-being of older adults with multiple chronic conditions.
Muhammad Mamdani
Dr. Muhammad Mamdani (PharmD, MA, MPH) is Vice President of Data Science and Advanced Analytics at Unity Health Toronto and Director of the University of Toronto Temerty Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM). His work is focused on applied artificial intelligence, health economics, drug policy, and health policy.
André Picard
André Picard is an award-winning journalist and health columnist for The Globe and Mail, one of Canada’s most widely read newspapers. He is the author of six bestselling books and has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada for his extensive and impactful reporting on public health issues. In his work, Mr. Picard has explored many topics related to medication appropriateness, including the opioid crisis, the safety of natural health products, as well as polypharmacy and deprescribing among Canadian seniors.
Ross Upshur
Dr. Ross Upshur (MD, MA, MSc) graduated in medicine from McMaster University in 1986. His clinical research focused on complex chronic disease in adults with a focus on multimorbidity, polypharmacy and interprofessional approaches to management. In the early 2020’s he became what he was researching.
