Health Care Provider Committee Co-Chairs
The Canadian Medication Appropriateness and Deprescribing Network (CADeN) is seeking applications from motivated individuals to serve as Co-Chair of its Health Care Provider Committee. This role offers a unique opportunity for a health care provider leader to help advance and shape medication appropriateness and deprescribing knowledge and capacity for practicing and trainee clinicians in Canada, thus contributing to improving the quality of care provided to patients across the country. This position offers the opportunity to enhance leadership skills and expand influence within the Canadian health professions landscape.
In partnership with the other Co-Chair, the selected candidate will actively guide the committee’s strategic direction, with the goal of enabling the committee to realize its mandate:
Enhance capacity for patient-centered, culturally safe deprescribing and medication appropriateness among health care providers.
Raise deprescribing and medication appropriateness as a priority among health care providers.
Promote inclusion of deprescribing and medication appropriateness in health professions education.

Responsibilities of the Co-Chair
Lead the Health Care Provider Committee alongside the current Co-Chair.
Prepare and chair the Health Care Provider Committee meetings with the support of CADeN staff. Meetings are scheduled for a duration of an hour approximately every two months (maximum of 5 meetings per year).
Guide the development and execution of the committee’s work plan objectives and initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between the Health Care Provider Committee and the CADeN Executive Committee, for example by reporting on the committee’s activities.
Represent the committee at health and other relevant conferences and in interactions with external stakeholders, including patient partners, students, academics, researchers, funders and members of other health organizations.

Qualifications
This position is open to health care providers in Canada with:
Health professional training and experience – eligible professions include medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health care providers.
Demonstrated leadership experience and strong knowledge of clinical landscape related to clinicians’ knowledge and capacity for managing polypharmacy and deprescribing.
A strong network within the Canadian health care sphere.
Experience as an educator in university-level health professions’ training, and/or an understanding of the importance of scholarly training on health professions practice, are assets.
Appointment and Compensation
Please note that this is an unpaid, volunteer position. The role will require a time commitment of approximately 3 hours per month. The initial term is for two years, with the possibility of renewal. Committee meetings are virtual.
